Kristi Whitacre recently joined the Purdue Extension Service as Community Development Educator for Vigo County. She provides the community with educational programs and information that can be used to increase community vitality, build leadership capacity, enhance public decision-making and resolve public issues.
Kristi brings more than two decades of marketing and public relations experience to her role, previously serving as the spokesperson for a multi-hospital healthcare system where she was responsible for managing all internal and external marketing and public relations functions. During her career, she has earned several awards and accolades for her writing, marketing execution, customer service and leadership. She is a past president of the Indiana Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Society and served on the board of the local chapter of the American Marketing Association. She actively supports many community organizations including the March of Dimes, Essence of Red, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation and United Way.
Kristi earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications/Public Relations with minors in Journalism and Marketing from Indiana State University. She earned her Master’s degree in Leadership Development from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and holds a certification in Healthcare Management from Indiana University.
